A former Waveland police officer was arrested Tuesday after an alleged drug deal in the parking lot of a Waveland church.
Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam said Wednesday that Josuha Poyadou, 27, was arrested and charged with transfer of controlled substance.
Poyadou spent several years as a patrolman for WPD and he is currently a police officer for the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, officials said.
Hancock County Narcotics Commander Jeremy Skinner said Poyadou was observed obtaining prescription pills in the parking lot of the Word of Faith Church on Tuesday evening.
He was arrested at the scene without incident.
He was booked at the Hancock County Jail and his bond was set at $15,000.
The case is under investigation and more arrests are pending, Skinner said.
